This is designed as an emergency way to open interior doors with locks such as a bathroom or bedroom door.
Opening locked door with hole.
Take the wire and insert it into the hole located in the center of the doorknob.
The non locking side of the door should have a small hole likely on the face of the knob.
Once the clip is straight position the straight end inside the hole on the outside of the doorknob.
Determine the type of lock locks with a round hole in the knob on the opposite side of the locking mechanism usually.
A ballpoint pen filler works.
Find something stiff that will slide into the hole.
Then push the tip of the paperclip or clothes hanger straight into the hole and try to keep it as straight as possible.
Then turn the door knob and shake the pin which should cause the lock to open.
At an inch or so you will feel resistance.
Using minimal force push the clip into the hole until you hear a light click or pop sound.
Push it straight into the hole.
To open a locked bathroom door from the outside place the point of a butter knife into the keyhole if it s a push button lock and turn the knife sideways.
How do you unlock a door with a hole in the knob.
Keep pushing hard enough to move the resistance.

When this happens a small button inside the locking mechanism presses against a bar which in turn pops the lock to the unlocked or open position.
If you keep it straight you should feel the lock on the other side of the door.
